Respected musical outfit Hilltop MUMC Choir and Friend of the Cross have unleashed their 2021 brand new album titled Revival.
The seven track album is their sixth project after Ndire Ndire, Nyika Yakanakisa, Mangwanani Ano Musandisiye, Ndatarisana Nemi and Jesu Muchengeti.
After a three year gap, the Mutare based Choir have packaged a spiritual timely vaccine, very much needed in such adverse times and the title and the timing of the project can never be so on point as this.
In keeping with tradition, the choir has knit five hymnals and two choruses, maintaining the heavy bias towards the hymn book.
One of the choruses Ndinamatire , looks set to be a smash hit with listeners.
This time, the choir brought it some new friends in Tendai Mutangabende and fiery Glen Norah Circuit chorister Obert Chipfunde who does lead vocals on the song Zano Chiro Chakanaka.
As if on cue, the choir has thrust the much loved Itai Mponesi Izvo Munoda In the mix which will get music listeners chomping at the bit.
With the album coming amidst an unprecedented invisible enemy in the coronavirus pandemic, a soothing Sombre and touching tribute comes in the form of the song Kudenga Kwakanaka.
Rev Dr Togara Bobo comes through on this one with a crisp sermon in humming interludes.
This song may just evoke so much emotion, especially to those affected in this season and may just bring memories amidst the healing it brings in reassuring the surviving that there is indeed a better place.
Other songs making up the album are Hakuna Hama Kupinda Jesu, Tiri Vawadzani and Tinoriparidza Chete.
The album was produced by veteran producer Peter “Cool Dude” Mparutsa who again adds a bit of his melody in Kudenga Kwakanaka.
With so much pain, sadness and despair hovering around the universe, this is the ultimate vaccine needed to soothe our hearts and its coming through a “REVIVAL”
