History

The first meeting of the UMC Church in Dublin occurred on the 15th of December 2007 at Ailt an Oir Sheltered Home in Dun Laoghaire. Permission was kindly granted for these meetings to Mrs Nyamhamba was working at the Home at the time.

Some of the first congregants to attend included. Mr and Mrs Nyamhamba, Mr and Mrs. Kedwell Mwaitirwa, Mrs Gertrude Chigombe, Ms. Emily Gutsa, Mrs Mable Murape, Mr and Mrs M. Tsambwa, Mrs. Easther Mandishona, Mrs. Stella Nyakwende, Mrs Boka and Mrs. Mangwandi, Mrs. Jongoro the late Reverend Jongoro.

Mr. Mwaitirwa’s son was the first JSS Teacher. After service there would be sharing of food. There was great fellowship so much that all attendees would be looking forward for the following week.

With growth of the congregation, the place became too small, thus, Mrs Mable Murape sought permission from her employer for the Church to move to Mount Tabor, Sandymount.

There was great encouragement from the then District Superintendent Reverend Mapfeka, who used to travel to Ireland from the UK, giving Holy Communion.

With continued growth the Church then had to move in February 2010 to the current location, Dundrum Methodist Church where our hosts have made us feel very welcome.

Under the leadership and administration of Mr Keith Sengwayo, who was the Local Pastor at the time, the Church became registered as a Charity in 2015. The following were made Trustees of the Charity:

Mrs Ellen Boka, Mrs Chengeto Jeyacheya, Mrs Hamufari Mtamiri, Mrs Rudo Muwaniri, Mrs Lillian Ndumba and Mr Clever Nyamhamba.
