Bishop Machinga’s Episcopal Address

Bishop Machinga’s Episcopal Address

Bishop Gift Kudakwashe Machinga has presented to the The United Methodist Church Zimbabwe East Annual Conference and last week to the UMC Zimbabwe West Annual Conference  the ‘BEACON” Vision in his Episcopal Address.

Through the Episcopal Vision the Bishop declared that the Zimbabwe Zambia Malawi and Botswana Episcopal Area shall shine and become a BEACON of hope for United Methodism in Zimbabwe, Africa and beyond.

The Bishop received a resounding applause from delegates “Equitable Clergy Welfare” and “Ongoing Sustainability”. How the welfare of clergy will improve, the Bishop stressed that depending only on traditional income streams of offerings, tithes, and thanksgivings many not help meet that dream.

Rather, the Bishop has already set in motion the Business Development Unit tasked with sweating the church assets and ensuring maximum utilisation of the vast land owned by the church in the mission centres.

Bishop Machinga has also called upon Equitable Compensation Committee to ensure that retired pastors remain on the church’s medical and funeral insurance.
